Well the first week of my vacation (but we call it "recovery" for my boss' sake..hehe) went great. Cliff and I hung out on his days off and the kids continued to go to daycare etc. I think we kept them home one day that week.
The second week..sucked the bag. Monday we kept the kids home because we were just not organized nor motivated enough to get our lazy butts out of bed. Tuesday I managed to convince Cliff (also known as bribing) to bring the kids to the daycare alone..it was the only day out of the 2 weeks off that he did it (so yes I basically guilted him into it oh and ofcourse bribed..). So he gets home and not a half hour later the teacher calls to say that Emma has lice and we have to pick her up and we might as well take Liam too so we can treat them both at the same time. All I can say is ICK!! I have been scratching my head ever since! So we trotted off to the Pharmaprix and picked up all the products. Oh and it was all rushed because I had an oil change appointment too boot.
That night after all the lice treatments were done, Boomer started to act strange. He was pacing back and forth and seemed to want to puke but nothing was happening. I called the vet at around 11:30 just to see what he thought..if it was something to be concerned about. He had been like that before and he normally just threw up and he was ok. He finally settled down at about 12:30 and I caught some z'sss while waiting for the vet to call. Well he did not call until 5:30 and I had never woken up before that to check on him. The vet asked me a few questions and told me to get him to the DMV in Montreal or to him ASAP that he most likely had bloat (gas in his stomach) and was in shock. So Cliff was working and I called him home (he had just walked in and was walking back out!) I called Dad and Shirley and had them comeover to watch the kids until Cliff came home. I took my Dad with me as well because we could barely get Boo in the car (Shirley and I) We got there and the Dr. told us to bring him in but we could barely get him out of the car. So the Dr (Dr. Bill) came and tried to pick him up with a towel around his stomach to keep him on his feet and have me coax him. It did not work so he just picked him up and whisked him in. Boomer had really deteriorated on the 25 minute drive.
Dr. Bill rushed him onto a table and he said we have no choice he is dying..and he stuck a needle (not attached to a syringe) right into his stomach and you could hear the air just coming out of his stomach. It was like deflating a balloon. Due to the fact he is a country vet he has no staff with emergencies so I had to hold on to the needle and press down! Then he got Dad to come in and hold another one!! The smell of the gas coming out was VILE. Once the air was out it was time to get him out of shock. At this point Shirley came and picked up Dad and I stayed on. He had to insert a tube down Boomer's throat to get more gas out and also to give him anti-gas stuff directly into his stomach. He seemed to be doing a little better but his temp was low. I spent the next few hours in wait and see mode - warming him up with a blow dryer (no incubators for 100 lb dogs) and taking his temp every 15 minutes. Dr. Bill wanted to do an X-ray to see if his stomach had twisted. But we did not get to that point because Boo started to bloat again. We did all the procedure again (needles and tube with anti-gas) but it did not work again. Within about 2 more hours he bloated again and at that point I told Dr. Bill that was it. I could not take him suffering like that anymore. We had "problems" with Boomer - he was not a bad dog but he was certainly not the dog for us. I swear he had the canine version of ADD..regardless I would never want to see any living thing go through that. It was terrible to see. Going with another vet I would not have seen most of it because they would have a staff to assist. I also was scared that it would happen again at home while I was at work and that was just terrible to even think about.
I stayed with him while Dr. Bill gave him the needle. I never thought that I could handle seeing that. I know I couldn't when we had Hogan put down (an equally crazy but epileptic dalmatian we had for a few months) but perhaps that is what growing up is all about. I felt I owed it to him to see him on his way. He is in a better place now and no longer suffering.
The rest of the week was still dealing with lice. Emma was able to go back to school on Friday and as far as we could see Liam never got them.. PHEW!
Friday night was lovely. We went out for a lovely dinner with Dad & Shirley. The rest of the weekend was quite relaxing.
Then it was back to work on Monday! I came back to 110 e-mails and 55 phone messages..lovely. I got back into the groove pretty quick.
On the surro front - well not much to say right now.. baby is doing well and so are the new Mommy and Daddy! Just enjoying parenting and all that comes with it!

Here it is :)
Author: Heather Weller Published on: July 16, 2001 http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm...acy_new/74940/3You've just delivered a surrogate baby, what are you going to do? If you answered you're going to Disneyland, perhaps you should postpone that a month or so. Chances are you're going into that amusement park thrill ride all its own: post partum mood swings.I've read many surrogate birth stories over the past two years, and they're all wonderful to read. But some have stuck out for their honesty in dealing with the emotional aspects of the time after the birth. And those that have shared a common theme: it's not all happy all the time.I think this is an important message to get out there to those in the world of surrogacy who haven't been through a birth yet: either as a surrogate or as an intended parent (IP). Many birth stories I read (by surrogates; I've read a few by the new parents themselves, but not as frequently. Hard as it is to believe, it seems they have something else to concentrate on ) would describe the amazing moment when the child was born and handed to the IPs, and how seeing how happy that made them made the surrogate feel an amazing surge of peace and pride for doing this amazing thing. Very few of these birth stories mentioned the down time that follows for MANY surrogates. It seems in part to avoid scaring others, and in part to avoid having others think they are "regretting their decision" or "want to keep the baby," many surrogates don't mention or downplay the sadness they experience after the delivery. And while I'm sure there are some surrogates out there who never have a single pang of sadness, that would seem to be a highly unlikely scenario. Though not for the reasons many outsiders initially assume. In today's society, if you mention surrogacy, people often still think instantly of Mary Beth Whitehead (15 years later!). One of the main questions surrogates are asked is "how can you be sure you can give up the baby?" That is what everyone focuses on. And many surrogates report feeling totally "watched" in the days and weeks following delivery, as those around them - especially those who were skeptical about the whole surrogacy thing to begin with - wait for them to fall apart and realize they made a huge mistake and they want that baby back. They feel the only way to avoid having to explain and justify any sadness is to deny any has occurred. But would it not be normal to be sad at the end of a surrogacy? I equate it to being involved in a play: for weeks or months you rehearse, you submerge yourself in a role, as the time for opening night nears your life tends to become more and more focused on this event, and then you have that wonderful shining moment on the stage, everything goes off wonderfully, the audience loves it, you couldn't have been better. And. Then. It's. Over. With a surrogacy, you've dedicated at the very least nearly a year to helping someone else be a parent when the delivery comes. And with very few exceptions, I've always heard the moment of seeing the IPs with their new child as being the highest high a surrogate can experience. But after that, where is there to go but down?Add that to the totally normal hormonal mood fluctuations following any birth and you have a woman ready to cry. Those who've described the downtime most vividly often talk of feeling totally elated one moment and devastated shortly after because their part in this is done. It's not the baby they miss - that is something everyone is emphatic about because of common perception - it's either the surrogacy itself or the IPs or the "specialness" of being pregnant, or simply the hormones going for a joy ride. And it's completely normal, if not often discussed.I think it's important that surrogates know this so that when the time comes, they know they're not the only surrogate who's ever cried when the baby left the hospital, or when they said goodbye to their IPs, or alone at night afraid to let anyone see them. I also think it's essential for IPs to be aware of this, because as almost any parent can tell you, it's very easy to become totally myopic when you bring home that child for the first time. Besides the rigors of adjusting to an infant's schedule, the whole process of adjusting to being a family leaves little energy or attention to other details. For IPs who've been trying to years to have a child then turn to surrogacy - or even just those who came to surrogacy initially as a way to conceive - the end of the surrogacy is not an end at all, but merely the beginning of their dreams. As natural as that is, the IPs should remember this is the end of the surrogate's role and dream. As easy as it is to get swept away in the day-to-day minute-to-minute minutiae of new parenthood, it is important to remember the person who brought you to this point of obsession! Many IPs speak of wanting to make a "clean break" and simply be a new family, and worry that keeping the surrogate involved in their lives will be more difficult for everyone. (Of course, the amount of contact after the birth one desires differs greatly from case to case - and is something everyone should discuss early and often.) But of the surrogates I know who had the easiest return to being "a woman who once was a surrogate" versus being "a former surrogate who wonders exactly how XXX is doing" were those who had some input from the IPs as they made the adjustment to being a family, who were allowed some time to say goodbye to the baby they carried in the hospital (often in private - something that scares a lot of IPs, unfortunately), and who felt appreciated for their role in making their IPs family a reality. It's this bit of extra hand-holding that actually often turns out to be a big source of closure. For me, knowing that I almost certainly will have periods of being upset or sad after giving birth has been helpful, in that I know I can prepare my friends and family for it so they don't instantly worry too much about my decision just because I have a period of "baby blues" even without having a baby around. It also has prepared me for it, so I won't fear that I'm starting down the fateful path Mary Beth Whitehead did simply because I'm not 100% happy all the time following the delivery. And if I'm lucky, the parent of the baby I carry will be able to provide reassurance that I'm not simply thrown to the curb like hired help once the job is done if I need it. This may not be the most fun or glamorous part of surrogacy to discuss, but I truly think it's an essential one.

OK so now what??
I think some people were expecting me to have a mental break down over this..but I can honestly say that I am doing great! Don't get me wrong I was expecting to have some "blue" days myself with those damn hormones in play and I have had a few moments but not really having to do with the surrogacy itself. I started cying on the Friday after I got home because Liam told me that I was mean (I would not let him have candy before dinner or something..) and ofcourse I get emotional over what I have actually done here.. I guess you would have had to be there when my IP's saw their precious baby girl the first time, or when they fed her for the first time etc etc..it was truly a miracle to witness. The instant love they had for her..I know I have been there with Liam and Emma but to actually see another couple go through it with their own baby! First of all most people are not in the birthing room with a couple (other than medical people) to see that - now obviously they had no choice here but I feel I was blessed to see this. To know that I helped make this happen...WOW!!
Baby is doing wonderfully - Cliff and I went up to visit a week ago and they are all doing great! I am sure now they have gotten into some type of routine.
So now what?? That is what I am suffering from.. what the hell do I do now? What just took place in the last year was HUGE..how do you go back to being normal? To no longer being a surrogate? I was prepared for dealing with the emotions of everything. I have spent years reading about this and then just spent the last year communicating with other surro's and seeing how they dealt with everything in their journies. That is probably why this has been so easy on me..there is one article in particular that I will post right after this that may explain how I am feeling now. I re-read it often just so I know I am not mental!
As for doing another journey?? I don't know..well I do know..if this couple asked me I would do it again in a second. I am hesitant about working with others..I have been so blessed with this couple. They are so easy going and it is just comfortable to be with them. So I guess only time will tell? I am not saying I would not work with another couple..just I am more weary.. but I will take lots of time (often surros get back on journey very quickly..within 2-3 months) but I want to take some time to lose LOTs of weight so if I do decide to do this again that I am in top shape!
So I guess that is it. I don't want to put the baby's name in here as it is not completely private but if you want to know just send me an e-mail!

She is here!!
I know most of you know by now - if you want to read all about the long day and night then continue on..
I woke up at 5:30 am on November 9th to a gush of fluid. Cliff, Liam, Bella (our new kitten) and I were all in the bed together. I said "Oh shit" and Cliff sort of got panicked (he thought I rolled over on the kitten) and then I told him I thought my water had broke. He said "you are kidding right??" I said "well either that or I just peed myself!!" So I got up and more and more fluid kept coming out and I knew for sure it wasn't me peeing!!! LOL.. So I called my IP's and IF answered and hung up on me (his battery died on the cordless) so I am sitting there staring at the phone going now what?? LOL.. So I called back and got their fax machine! Not exactly how I thought this moment would go in my mind!! So I tried again and IM answered all concerned asking if everything was ok.. so I said "well yes except my water just broke" She responded with "Oh shit!!" I told her I was calling the hospital to see what to do and I would call her back. So I called the hospital and they just told me to come in to make sure.. so I called them back and said we were going in but I was not having contractions or anything yet so they had some time..little did we know how much time they would actually have.
I called my parents and Shirley (my stepmother) came over to watch the kids. Dad was the one that answered and when Shirley asked him what was going on he told her "Karen's water just broke" she replied with "in the kitchen or bathroom?" LMAO she thought I was having plumbing problems! I did not pack my bag or anything we just went. We got there at about 7:00 ish and were put in a room. Meanwhile every move I made I just "gushed" everywhere. When we got there we explained to the nurse on duty the situation and if a couple walked in with panicked faces but the wife did not look pregnant..send them to us..LOL!
IP's showed up about an hour later and they decided to put us into the biggest room. My Dr showed up around 10:00. I had been being monitored and there were no contractions at all, baby was still very high and I was about 1 cm dialated. Dr. decided that I was not going to labour on my own with baby so high so we started the Syncote (Pitocin I guess) she assumed once it got started that she would be back in a few hours to deliver..WRONG!! Nothing was happening at all..they just kept upping and upping the pitocin little by little and there was no change!! The whole day went on and we just sat around and chatted all day long. They were also giving me antibiotics as well due to the fact that the baby was going to be a wee bit early. So the night started to go on as well and they checked me once in a while and no change and baby was still high!!! I started having a few irregular contractions at 10:00 pm or so but still nothing to write home about. The nurses had all been great with us all day long.
The Dr had given us until about 11:30pm and if there was still no change then we would have to look at the possibility of a c-section. The baby was not coming down so obviously my cervix was not softening or dialating! I walked around a bit after a potty break and one nurse tried to convince me to go on the birthing ball!! I was like no freaking way..I am such a klutz I would probably fall off and cut my head open or something. So she brought it in anyways and IF tested it out..LOL.. I think he will be buying one for everyone in his office for Xmas he quite enjoyed it. When we hit 11:30 I was having contractions but they were not that strong. They convinced me to go into the birthing tub for a bit in the hopes that after that I would have some change (the baby was a bit lower but still no where close and the cervix was a bit softer) my back was really hurting though (oh and at this point the syncote stuff was at the max 120 double strength!!) She said perphaps there would be enough change that I could have an epidural afterwards but I was worried that it could stop any progress we had made which was not much!My Dr. is not into doing c-sections unless baby is real distress and she was sailing through all of this. Then like at midnight as they were running the tub for me..the contractions started to get stronger and I started violently throwing up..it lasted about 10 minutes. Hurling and contractions DO NOT go together!! They had another nurse come in (shift change) and I had gone from 1cm to 5cm just with the hurling!! Cliff and my IP's were great during the hurling episode. Cliff went to get some coffee and all of a sudden I was allowed to get the epidural. The contractions were pretty intense by this point . So much for the tub..lol..I think I started vomiting because I was so scared to get a c-section and all the nurses swore that is what got everything started! The epi man came down and IF offered me a foot massage and apparently I gave him a very adamant NO! LOL.. we all laughed! IF stayed with me and held me during the epi cause IM would have passed out for sure. They got all ready and the epi man took his damn sweet time putting the stupid thing in. Something to do with not finding the right place at first. I think it was all in around 12:45 or so. He told me that it would take about 10 min to kick in. He waited around and they took my BP a few times and the contractions were coming about 3 min apart and the epi was not kicking in! At about 1:00 am they were too intense and I felt like I had to push. the nurse checked me again and the baby's head was right there and I was ready to go! But the Dr. was not there yet! She only lives across the street so they called her and told me she would be here in 10 minutes. I kept telling them we did not have 10 minutes...LOL. They got all set up and she walked in and I instantly calmed down..(she has that affect) but told her I really needed to push. She told me she was going to wash her hands and if I felt like I wanted to push to go ahead. So I did..she came back and the baby's head was right there. She told me to push again on my next contraction but the contraction never really came so she told me to push anyways. I did and in two pushes she was out. It was so easy to get her out I was sure she must have weighed like 5-6 lbs. The epi only kicked in a bit afterwards when the Dr. was delivering the placenta..so much for that epi!!!IP's had been up by my head and had been letting Cliff take all the beating from me..lol. They came right down to check her out and IF cut the cord. They went over with the nurses and all decided that she was quite big for being 3 1/2 weeks early! Cliff stayed with me and the Dr. proceeded with checking me out and delivering placenta. There was somethign wrong with the placenta..cannot remember what it was called perhaps someone might know..something about the cord being attached to the blood vessels?? Anyhoo the Dr. seemed to think it was better she came early because of this. Placenta was delivered and it was confirmed there was no tearing or anything. They weighed the baby and she was 7lbs 3 1/2 ounces and 20 3/4 inches! She was born on the 10th at 1:32 am. We stayed in the birthing room for quite awhile and IP's got lots of bonding time. I held her a little while after for about a 1/2 hour. We got our room at about 5:00 am and I basically fell asleep in my IP's faces while they waited for their room. I slept for about 2 hours although it seemed longer. I hung out with my IP's the next day and we all took turns holding her etc.. she is so sweet and so easy!! My Dr. told me I could leave that afternoon if I was up to it but my bleeding was a little much so I decided to just take a break and stay there for the next night. She preferred it but was not going to force it. I left Friday at 11:00 am and IP's and baby were due to leave today but she got a bit of jaudice so they are keeping them an extra day.My IP's are so in love..they were so not ready and had their friends and family scrambling to get everything done while they were in the hospital. I also was not ready so I am sure work is scrambling!! Physically I feel awesome as well as mentally. As much as I love that baby girl I don't feel like she is mine at all.. IF is sweet though as when come in he calls me Mommy..lol.. like she has two mom's! It is unnecessary but it just makes me feel appreciated. While I was in the hospital it just felt like it was my sister who had a baby and I was helping them out. The staff there was VERY curious about it all..you could tell they had so many questions..LOL..

My bad
OK I am terrible at this!
October just flew by (ok so did the rest of September) but things are good! We started off October in a serious heatwave..don’t get me wrong I love the heat but not in freaking October! We started off with Shirley’s 50th Birthday Bash Car Rally! What a wonderful day it was (or at least I think it was!) the weather was fabulous (if you had AC in your car ofcourse), some people got lost but I think all in all everyone had a good time! It was a lot of planning (thanks Ross for all of your help!!) but it was all worth it for my dear Mama #2!
The weekend after that was Liam and Emma’s baptism! The weather was shit but everything went quite smoothly. The kids made us laugh in the church and we had a good time back at the house. Thanks to everyone that came and for all the lovely gifts for the kids. It was also Thanksgiving weekend so you know what that means..Turkey… man was it good!!
Work has been nuts as usual.
ON the pregnancy front everything is going good too. I will be 36 weeks on Saturday! So it is just a matter of waiting now..I will be so ready when she is I know that for sure! My IP’s have moved and are settling into their temporary digs and I can already feel some of the pressure is off my IM which is so nice..she has so much on her plate at once it is crazy! I get tired just listening about everything she has to do in a day!
I had my normal pregnancy fall last Monday. It was bad this time. Ofcourse it was a Monday morning in the pissing rain into a knee deep puddle… it was not pretty nor anything remotely graceful. I cried..I felt stupid crying but it scared the crap out of me and it freaking hurt! I ended up falling on my left knee. I had the lovely scrape almost the size of my knee cap and ofcourse all bruised to boot. I had the Dr. look at it and it is not broken but very bruised. Walking is not that bad (well it is but not because of the knee!) but going upstairs, downstairs, on and off chairs and into my car..ouch..
What else..oh yeah.. Halloween.. it went great. Kids were super tired but Shannon, Shirley and Saylie took them out with me and they were such a great help! I was having a hard enough time walking!!
My ankles are swollen pretty well all the time now.. heartburn is still bad and I can barely eat anything without puking it up. Need to talk to Dr. O about that today. But it will all be worth it when my IP’s get to see their baby for the first time!
Hope all is well with y’all!! I am hoping to get some baptism pics up soon plus we got the daycare pics back and wait till you see them!!
OHHHH I almost forgot! Liam went last Friday for his next belt in Karate! He had a little test (Which I don’t think they fail anyone..) and he got his half belt! (1/2 white and half yellow!!) We were so proud!!

Here is Emma being all "satanish".. You might think that this is shaving cream as most kids do that (I know I did as a child and shaved my face to boot) but you would be wrong..this is diaper cream..good ole zinc oxide..it was on her legs, all on her shoulders and the back of her hair. OH and the best part was she crapped in her bathing suit as well..what a great night it was!

Damn it
I failed the first part of the gestational diabetes test..CRAPPY! I am not too worried yet because I failed it with Emma too but then passed the second part..so now I have to follow a 3 day Glucose Loading diet and then go for other blood tests..I am only going to start the diet on Monday though cause I have a really nice ice cream pie still left in the freezer..hehe The diet is not soo bad..lots of food just I hate being told what i cannot eat..LOL..
Oh yeah I was supposed to tell you all about the kids.. Maybe tonight. Cliff is working nights so I should be here with nothing to do (ok maybe housework..but yeah right..I have given up..we cannot even get through the picking up before it is destroyed again! )

Wow two in one day..
OK so that was the first bit of the summer..
Let’s see…well we had a few weddings..one purty crappy and the other at the complete OPPOSITE end of crap. My dear Kim, a dear friend and whom is like a sister I never had (well you know that part is crap..cause that is all I got is SISTERS! Could someone have possibly thrown in a brotha for some fun???) finally married her long (LONG LONG LONG) time love Ross on July 30th! Ross is also a kindred spirit..he thinks like me (well most of the time) and it is one cool amigo..if I was to have a brother I would hope he would have been like Ross is. So they FINALLY get hitched and it was by far, hands down the best wedding I have ever been to. (sorry no offence to all the others out there but I think most would agree with me anyways..) First of all it was Kim and Ross…that in itself was honour to attend. Second of all I think Kim and her lovely mother thought about practically every single detail that could be thought about. Kim has been planning this wedding LONG before she met Ross and it showed! Thanks again for the Rolaids..they saved my life (damn you heartburn) It was like attending a royal wedding! OK maybe not quite..but Royal enough for me..now keeping in mind that I am pregnant..my favorite part was the food..hehe.. I loved that mushroom saucey thing and the fowl was to die for!! But my all time fave was all those yummy treats at the snack table afterwards..like all these homemade goodies!! DELISH!
We had our 18th (I think) annual Carson/Gormley Golf Tournament. It was fab as usual. Great LIVE band this year! I have no idea how much we raised for CF but when I find out I will let y’all know.
What else..oh we had a week of vacation. Basically hung around the house..did go to the Granby Zoo..that was fun (but tiring). Dad, Shirley, Shannon, Saylie and us went. The Zebra’s were awfully frisky that day and it was quite entertaining watching them kick the poop outta each other.
So recently on the pregnancy front all is good..I have gained a total of 6 ½ lbs which is good. Starting to show but still don’t really look pregnant really.. which kinda sucks cause I so would rather look pregnant than fat but really as long we are all healthy that is all that matters. We have a 3D ultrasound coming up so that should be really cool!! I am starting to feel uncomfortable.. quite a few Braxton hicks contractions that are not painful but they are distracting. In some ways I am carrying the same way as with Liam and Emma (like going all the way up before going out) but this baby seems to be sitting more near the front cause I can feel exactly where she is all the time..so it is kind of fun to experience something different this time around! My lovely IP’s are busily preparing their nest for the wee chick. I hope they will be ready!
We just bought a new car. A 2005 Hyundai Elantra..so not my dream car but we had to be realistic with the amount of mileage we do and the price of gas they way it is!! So far I like it…
The kids are awesome as usual..Emma is evil but that is for another post..I will post all about my devil child (with pics too boot).
Cliff is good too. They are going to start weaning him off the prednisone in the next few weeks so keep him in your thoughts that it is a smooth transition this time. Last year (June) they started and he started to (mildly) reject.. after that they changed some meds around so I am hoping with that change all will be good.. the steroids really are not meant to be used for such long term purposes. He has been on it for 4 years and it is eating away at the poor man’s bones.. oh yeah! July 4th was Cliffy’s 4th anniversary with his new heart!! WOOHOOO!!

I am still alive..
I have such a hard time staying up and soooo much has happened yet again!! The amnio was done on June 17th! The amnio itself was not nearly as scary as I was expecting. I just envisioned the Dr. standing above me with this foot long needle and then proceeding to ram it into my belly. Almost like the heart episode in Pulp Fiction if you remember that (or were able to keep your eyes open for it) Oh and the night before the amnio my OB called to tell me she finally got results of the Prenatest and we had a 1 in 200 chance of having a baby with down’s..thanks for NOT stressing me out. I love my Dr. and I know she did not call to stress me out she just did not want me going into the amnio thinking we were doing it unnecessarily. But still freaked me out. I never told my IP’s what she told me..I just did not want them to stress out as 1 in 200 chance is still slim.
We had an ultrasound done before - had to check the position of where best to get some amniotic fluid. I had asked K & S beforehand if they wanted to know the sex of the baby. They were surprised when I told them that 1) there was a good chance they would be able to see it in the u/s and 2) they would know 100% after the amnio was done. So they decided yes they did! (Thank god because I am far too nosey and I would have had to ask my Dr. after and then have to lie to them for the next 6 months..LOL) So right away the u/s tech asked us and I did not say anything and let the parents answer..sure enough the tech did not realize the “situation” and told them she wanted to hear the answer from the “Mother”..LOL.. and then she waved her hand at them and said I don’t care if you want to know!! SO once we realized she was not being insensitive..she just did not read the file…we laughed and I told her yes. She was an excellent tech and none of us wanted to embarrass her. Right way she was able to tell and IT IS A GIRL!!! K & S are thrilled.. I know they would have been thrilled either way…On Tuesday we got more good news..the first 5 chromosomes were tested and everything was perfect!! A week later came and more good news came! The rest of the results were perfect too!!
TALK ABOUT BREATHING A SIGH OF RELIEF!! PHHHEEEEEEWWWW!! I have honestly felt in my heart that everything is perfect with this baby..but maybe I am not gifted enough to know?? But I have some serious faith in this. I think it is definitely time for this most amazing couple to be blessed with a child. It will change their lives and rock their worlds but as far as I am concerned it is going to be a ride that they will cherish forever.
Wee baby girl has started to move!! I have felt little movements for awhile now but on we got some good kicks last Friday (which was July 1st cause I started writing this THAT long ago!)! Liam was there to feel it and he was so very impressed..then he proceeded to ask me if she was wearing shoes, shirt, underwear etc..LOL.. I am finally starting to show a t bit..I still look fat basically..but there is some firmness amongst the chub!!
Let’s see what else..Emma Bear is starting to go on the potty!! She did it twice at home and last count she had 8 stickers at school for doing it!! She does not even tell me she goes..until after and she wants her sticker. As easy as Liam was I wish he had been sooner..LOL.. This is now being updated to say that my wee chickadee has changed so much over the course of the summer! The potty training is going great. She has been doing really well the last 1 ½ weeks. Our issues are with the poop..but she has started going regularly and has only fallen off the pot (rather than falling off the wagon) a few times.
OK this was all basically written at the beginning of July..I have been basically been going to bed at 9:00 every night. So I am going to post this part and then update again in a bit (Like a few minutes..)

ok long overdue update..now every one can stop harassing me! LOL
Oh my goodness…I am so sorry this has taken so long!! There has been so much going on these days.
OK on the baby front – we had the Prenatest done on May 24th.The way the Prenatest works is that they do an ultrasound and a blood test and they look for certain markers that would consider the baby more at risk for chromosomal defects (such as Down’s Syndrome etc). Once they do these tests they are supposed to give you a percentage of risk that something could be wrong. Once you have the risk factor then you discuss with your Dr, whether to have an amniocentesis done to investigate further. They do this to avoid doing unnecessary amnio’s as there is a small risk of miscarriage that comes along with the procedure.
The ultrasound part went very well and technician did not see any thing in particular that would be considered a risk. The baby was finally looking like a baby rather than a tadpole! She also told us that the baby was measuring right on target for my due date. We still had to wait for the blood results.
My Dr. called about a week after saying that the lab was calling and needed the exact birthdate of the egg donor. We thought that the clinic in TO was transmitting that information to the clinic here but apparently not. My Dr. had a sense of urgency and she basically told me because they only had the year of birth the risk of something being wrong was going from Abnormal (if she was born at the beginning of the year) and normal (if she was born at the end of the year). I tried calling the clinic and ofcourse they did not want to give me the date. The nurse did tell me that she was born in one of the last 3 months of the year. Apparently my IF took care of it and they should have all the info now to get us an accurate result. But before we even had that info my Dr. advised seeing as we seemed so close on the “border” that I go for an amnio regardless just to give everyone peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy and if there is to be something wrong then my IP’s can decide what they want to do. Now all that being said..I don’t think there is anything wrong with this baby. That is just my gut feeling.. I am scheduled for the amnio on June 17th and although I am not looking forward to the procedure I am looking forward to getting to the bottom of it all so we can just enjoy the rest of the pregnancy! We don’t even know our real risk yet so perhaps with her birth date it might have fallen back into a very small percentage.
Other than that I am feeling good! My back is a wee bit sore but that is about it. The morning sickness seems to be weaning finally!!
Let’s see what else? Umm..oh yeah the last weekend of May our chicken pox episode continued..Emma finally got them!! I got a call on Thursday afternoon to pick her up because she was running a slight fever. We were scheduled to leave for TO the next morning to go visit Danny and Joanne and kids. (Cliff’s brother) and then up to visit The Gormley’s and Granny on Saturday. Well so much for that! Thursday evening as I was changing her diaper she turned around to escape and Cliff and I just looked at each other and said “Oh shit” No there was not really a shite..LOL. She had quite a few spots on her lower back/bum!! CRAP! Then she started to have diarrhea! So Cliff called Danny and sure enough Melissa had never had them and poor Granny gets shingles when exposed. So the trip was cancelled. L The poor girl had it ROUGH..if I knew it could have been that rough I would have had them vaccinated. On top of the pox all in her diaper area, back, head and mouth she had diarrhea the whole weekend! I did not want to give her the milk for the runs but then the Pedialyte was burning the pox in her mouth with the salt. The days were not so bad as it was very warm so we were outside the whole time and that kept her busy..but the nights were terrible. She still has lots of spots that are still scabbed over.
Then last Friday the daycares in Quebec (public) decided to go on strike. They were off Friday, Monday and Tuesday.. I could not have possibly taken another day off. Cliff took Friday off unpaid and Mon-Tues were his official days off so it worked out. Now there is a chance they could go off again next week for 4 days!! What the hell do they expect us to do here?? When I say they I don’t mean the daycare workers… these people take care of our kids every single day. I support them 100% and just pray that the Charest government finally clicks in and does what is right. Maybe if they stopped spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on entertaining themselves and going on unnecessary trips we would not be dealing with this right now!
Although we are healthy once again life continues to be crazy… the pool pump burned out then the vacuum cleaner for the pool broke (about $400 worth of broken altogether…grr) I told Cliff it is his turn to sell his body on the streets of Valleyfield..no one wants a big ole pregnant lady..LMAO.
The summer is going to be crazy!! There is so much going on again. I am kicking it off this weekend with a last minute trip up to Oshawa. Cliff is working nights and I got nothing else to do. So a bunch of surrogates in that area have been planning a BBQ for quite sometime and I have decided to head up there! There will be about 20-25 of us and am really looking forward to it! It is in Whitby which is about 15 min from Oshawa. Should be great!
Work has been crazy too..This pregnancy has hit me in the sleep department..no question there. I am going to have to change the name of my blog cause I ain’t no longer a Late Nite Mama..LOL..
So what is new wit all you doods?? Oh yeah and Cliff is doing awesome! He goes soon for his quarterly blood tests so I will let you know more when we get those back!
Little update
So guess who ended up being next in line for the “pox”??? ME!! I could not believe it!! I was so very lucky to be blessed with a very mild case. I got just spots..not even that many that were visible. I had no fever or sickness at all!! Still itched like a banshee but it was bearable.
My Dr expects no complications with the baby or the pregnancy but we will take necessary precautions (detailed u/s etc) when the time comes.
Still no signs on Emma yet…
I am 11 weeks and 2 days today..things are going well. Still waves of nausea but at least it is telling me that I am still pregnant because I am not having too many other symptoms yet. Still in regular clothes but it won’t be much longer..not that I have a belly..I just look fatter than normal!

Finally what happened on Monday and everything else!
So that Monday that I mentioned is now..ummm..let me check the calendar.. was the 18th of April. I was watching taped 24 episodes, it was about 11:30pm . Cliff was working night shift. All of a sudden our side door opened and I thought it was Cliff coming home sick (I was actually already getting ready to bitch at him…LOL), next thing I know the dog is growling and lunging at the door and it closes!! I was freaking out! So I ran towards the door and see someone running on my deck into my backyard!! I ran outside and started screaming at the top of my lungs “Get the F--- out of my house, get the F--- out my yard etc” Over and over again. I was freaking out so much I was shaking!! So the person cannot figure out how to get out of my fenced yard so they manage to wiggle in between a fence and our pool. Next thing I know she (turned out to be a girl) is walking practically beside me (but I was above her on the deck) and acting like nothing just happened. I then looked around for the dog and realized I shut the door behind me and left him in the house!! Cliff thinks I did it on purpose to protect the kids but I have no idea. So then I let him out and he growled and made scary noises. All this girl did was say “Sorry wrong house” WHATEVER. Our house does not look even remotely close to anyone elses on the street. I think she was stoned or drunk or something. She was a skin-head type with a green pony tail and big skinhead boots on.
So the dog finally redeemed himself with all his shedding and barking and drooling etc…I am kind of glad I kept him in the house. God only knows what he would have done to the freak….I would probably have gotten sued!
I have an appointment tomorrow with Alarmforce (big surprise???) You know the ones from the commercial..”This is Alarmforce, please identify yourself. The authorities have been notified…” HEHE… It is a pretty good deal and I think I might be able to sleep at night again when Cliff is not home.
What else??? Well Emma turned two on Friday!! She is definitely TWO if you know what I mean!! Tantrums and all. I closed the fridge the other day while she was trying to find something and she THREW herself onto the floor and kicked and screamed..it was quite funny. Then she will say “pas funny Mummy!!” LOL..my little French tantrum girl.
Liam has the chickenpox. We were hoping he missed them but no…it took awhile to develop though. I am now expecting Emma to get them any day now. He did really good with them though. Mind you I drugged him so I am sure that helped. That Aveeno crap for the bath sucks.. it barely dissolves and then makes such a mess after. It must have been a man that invented that seeing as they don’t clean the bathrooms.
Erin and Aaron were down this weekend. Unfortunately did not get to spend too much time with them. Aaron taught us how to play Texas Hold’em poker. It was fun even though I lost all my chips pretty fast. I went to bed at midnight (cause I had to work on Sunday) and they were still playing. Then they woke me up at 1:15 am..still playing..they were getting louder as the drinks were flowing..Erin went to bed around 2:00am. They(Cliff and Aaron) woke Emma up at 2:15am..I went out and freaked on their heads. Luckily Emma fell back asleep. At 4:00 am lights were on but silence. I got up to discover Clifford passed out at the table (again..lol). I tried to wake him up..no luck. I turned off all the lights and left him there. The man does not even have enough sense to get up and pass out on the couch!! Retard. Ofcourse their golf game Sunday was cancelled due to the fact that neither of them could move and I believe Cliff would still have been over the legal limit for driving.
So that is it in a nutshell..I am all updated.. pregnancy is going well. Nausea and fatigue are about it for symptoms. Oh and my arse is killing me. The injections are getting really OLD!! 3 ½ weeks left… who woulda thought that I would run out of room on my hiney but I am ... I am 9 weeks now and still wearing regular clothes..yippy!! I am good to go for the next 3 at least..

Where did April go??
Oh my god! I cannot believe it has been almost a month! Did that ever fly by! OK so let’s see. Mum visited at the beginning of April and although I was sick for a good part of her visit we had a good time. It had been far too long! We did not do too much. We visited Ross and Audrey (my uncle and aunt) as they are in the process of adopting a little baby. His name is Keziah ( I think) and he is a real cutie!! I will post pics later. We also went to the traditional cabane a sucre! (Sugar shack). We went to the Arthur Farm which is owned by Shirley’s uncle and cousins (I think). It is a place called Rockburn and the drive out there was beautiful! We took the Intended Parents with us and we all had a great time. The food was amazing! I sooo want their pancake recipe….we then stopped at the Rockburn Pub for wee drink. Cliff and the intended father played some darts and pool and the girls chatted. The rest of the week was pretty low key, just hanging with the kids etc. It was so nice to see how quickly the kids warmed up to her! Almost like they see her every day!
On Friday, April 15th we went for our first ultrasound. I was a day shy of 7 weeks. The intended parents came with me and we got bad news.. the Dr. could not find anything in my uterus!! We were all devastated and it was not looking good. The Dr. assumed because I had no pain that it was not ectopic. He did a blood test with the expectation that the results would be a very low # and they would take me off the hormones and would proceed to miscarry. Well… we got the results back and the # was almost 19,000!! I was still very much pregnant but nothing in the uterus..so up came the discussion of ectopic..at this point there was no other alternative. The Dr. had told me (before we got the blood test results) that if I had any inkling of cramping or pain to get to the ER pronto. At this point the plan was to do another beta on Monday. So the rest of Friday was a write off. I left work early. Sure enough at about 10:30 pm I had some cramping. Nothing major in a regular pregnancy but when they tell you there is nothing in your uterus you tend to PANIC! So I trotted off to the ER and spent all night waiting..waiting waiting. Finally at about 4:00am someone came in. All he would do is another beta and then repeat on Monday..GRRR.. I was not getting anywhere!
I went home and slept a few hours. I called the intended parents (who by the way were awesome and so supportive during all of this!!) and the IF decided to call the clinic again that we went to. He wanted to see if there was anything else we could do. They scheduled another u/s that morning and IF’s plan was to tell the Dr. that once confirmed there was nothing there that he wanted to have a shot of Methatrex(sp??) a cancer drug to kill the pregnancy. So he did all that when we got there but the Dr. said it was too early to discuss that and he would do another u/s and a blood test to see if the #’s were going down. So he begins the u/s and POOF! The baby was there heartbeat and all!! IF and I almost had a heart attack!! I had a big feeling the Dr. the day before was not in the right place(it was an internal ultrasound) but he was a fertility specialist..not exactly going to tell the dude how to do his job. Maybe I should have! So we went back to IP’s place to surprise IM with her 8mm fetus. She was shocked.

SO here it is!!
OK.. so I guess I have kept you all (my big audience of 3) in suspense long enough! I am PREGNANT!! Cool eh!! I peed on the stick on Good Friday and what a Good Friday it was!! A very faint line but if you know anything about trying to get knocked up you will know a line is a line – a positive is a positive! I was in the bathroom doing the test and after about 1 min Cliff called me and I looked up ( was trying to read so I would not look at it for 3 min) and peeked. All I said was HA! Cliff said why did you say that? BECAUSE I AM PREGNANT!! HA HA HA!! I felt a great sense of accomplishment. So then I called everyone in the world and told them. I called IP’s and asked them what they were doing. IF was working…that man has to slow down. So I did not say anything and just made idle chit chat. Then she asked me how I was feeling..any symptoms? So then I asked her ok..if feel “something” and I test and it is + do you want me to tell you right away or after the beta blood test? She said whatever I was comfortable with. So I said, “OK, I am pregnant!” She screamed! It was amazing. Then she tells me I have to call IF. So I called him up and made some idle chitchat too..and he started this big spiel about if it did not work this time don’t worry etc etc. I said “Thanks but we won’t have to be worrying about that!!” I tested this morning and I am pregnant!!” He was on cloud 9! I don’t think the shock as worn off yet.
SO I went on Easter Monday and had the blood test done and it was confirmed. I went again yesterday just to make sure the #’s are rising and they are!! It was such a rush to tell them..other than getting married and experiencing getting pregnant ourselves and having the babies, this was by far the best moment of my life. I cannot wait for their first ultrasound and experiencing all the other milestones with them.
So that is it! Mum is coming down for a week! She arrives on Saturday morning at 7:00!! I think I am going to pick her up in my pj’s!!LOL..I will be off for a week and it is definitely not long enough! That is about the only shitty thing about living here..I am here and Mum and the sistas are out there..sucks the bag man. I cannot wait until I win the lottery so I can just fly out whenever I want..
What else..oh yeah if you see Cliff on E-Bay tell him to get the hell off!!

My arse was already gettin' sore so out came the Sac magique!! That thing rocks. No..I don't know if I am pregnant yet..I know you wanna ask..

I'm back!!
Hellooo everyone,
I is back from the land of crazy taxi drivers..god that place is NUTS!! Believe it or not I had a taxi driver who was East Indian and he was actually making racist comments to me about a chinese taxi driver!! I was shocked..but seriously they all drive like nutballs..
So I am back and no I don't know if I am pregnant yet..DON'T even ask..hehe.. IT was a lovely trip. The transfer was awesome! The Dr. implanted two beautiful embryos (an 8 cell and a 9 cell which is apparently about the best you can get!! - not that that had anything to do with me..hehe). The Dr. was also very pleased with my lining and he is so very confident that we are going to do this on the very first go!! (I can't even take credit for my own lining because that is all done by drugs...lol)
Cliff is an absolute PRO at doing these injections..I have to say (again because I think I already wrote this) I am so very proud of him. IM met me in Toronto for the transfer and we had a great time. We giggled all day long except for during the transfer because we feared the embryos might spill out of me (I know we are dorks!!) I vegged out in my hotel room with all the mags she left me and then IF sent me a big "Thinking of you" bouquet of flowers!! They were so beautiful!!! White lilies!! Erin came down that early evening and we did a little walk to find some eats..we ended up at the Elephant & Castle and she was so impressed at the difference in the bill when there is no alcohol on it!! Oh cousin....just stick with me and I will teach you everything I know!! The food was great!
Wednesday we took it easy and then headed down to the Eaton Center for a wee bit. Shopped a bit for the kids at the Disney Store! (I could have spent $1000 in there for sure!) We hooked up with Erin's friends Cindy and Jen for dinner at the Marche Movenpik (after veggin in the hotel for another couple of hours in the afternoon) and then they dropped me off at Cliff's brothers! I had not seen Danny and Joanne in such a long time!! Unfortunately Melissa was not there but we plan to drive down there soon so we call all have a real visit!! Shawn even called me Auntie Karen! I loved it!! I don't get to hear that to often with the girls and Logan out west so for Shawn to say it really made my day!! I cannot believe he is 19 now..I am really starting to feel OLD.. It was really nice to get caught up with them.
Today I checked out at 11:00 and just hung around a bit before heading to the airport. The flight was good..busy but good.
I cannot believe how much I missed my babies :( I did not call them because I did on Monday night and Liam really cried and then I cried..it was just too sad..
I am really hoping that this transfer is successful so I won't have to go away again. The hotel was awesome! It was really family oriented which made me miss them even more :( But if anyone is looking for a little getaway with the kids..Delta Chelsea is the place for you!! They have an indoor water slide!
So that is it!! Wish us luck and think Sticky vibes!!

Long overdue update!!
Hey everyone..or anyone..whomever is reading!!
I cannot believe it has been so long since I have "blogged"
Things have been moving fairly quickly!! The biggest news is that I leave tomorrow night for Toronto for the transfer!! It has been a long road to get here but now that the time has arrived it seems like there is not enough time to get organized!! Part of the reason for that is because the transfer will be "fresh" (ie not frozen embryos) we had to wait for the follicles to grow and the retrieval only happened this weekend. So I only officially knew that Tuesday was transfer day on Thursday!
My medication protocol changed as of Friday. I stopped the Suprefact (injections in my stomach) and on to start the injections in the HI-NEE!! So the panic begun once again!! LOL..IM and I called everyone imaginable to show us how to the injections (Cliff and I) and I finally got in touch with someone at around noon on Friday. The nurse at this clinic explained and showed step by step what we had to do. So first one was done and it went well!! Did not even hurt. The nurse explained in very gentle terms that my big arse was contributing to the ease of the injections! Who woulda thunk!! So the next step was to have Cliff give me one.. we had a birthday party to go to (Happy 30th Bruce!!) and Cliffie had a few beer..I think that might have eased his nervousness because he did it like a pro!! (ok not quite a pro but perhaps a pro that had had a few beer..lol) My ass is a little sore..but nothing I can't handle. Then he did the second one tonight and it went good again! I also started Suppositories and that is all I am going to say about that...ICK.
So I leave tomorrow (Monday) right after work and won't be back until Thursday late afternoon. Cousin Erin is going to come and hang out with me for a bit. I hope to do a bit of shopping on Wednesday/Thursday but we'll see. On the 29th I will have a beta test to see if these little eggies stuck or not! I think I will be able to test earlier than that but that will be the official test!

Finally met my Intended Parents!!
It was awesome! They are just as great in person as they are over the phone/e-mail. It was an extraordinary night full with great conversation, laughs and even a little emotional at times. They treated us to an amazingly expensive restaurant and the food was delicious!!
I was a little nervous at first that they might not like me and change their minds but I think they enjoyed themselves as much as we did We did not even talk too much about the surrogacy but that is ok because we have covered most of that over and over and over!!!!LOL.
Right at the end IF went up to the butcher counter they had there (it was a steakhouse) and bought my parents two filet mignons to thank them for watching the kids! They must have been like $50 just for the two of them! It was crazy but at the same time extremely thoughtful and generous of him.
IF also told us that he is a member of a golf course that Cliff has been dreaming his whole life to play at and he told Cliff that he would love to take him out for a round there!! Cliff is on cloud NINE!! It was a great night!
On another note..the injections are going ok...can't say I am enjoying them and it just makes me dread the other ones (bigger, thicker oil type liquid). I hit a vein the other day..that kinda hurt..but I knew almost instantly that I had done something wrong because the actual prick does not normally hurt. It is usually just the meds that hurt once I push the syringe..but that one hurt like an SOB! I drew back the syringe and poof there was blood so I had to start ALL over again! Pain in the ass!!
I can't really see too many side effects yet..perhaps bitchiness..LOL..although I am sure Cliff would say I am like this every month! It is hard to say if it is the meds or just being off the Pill. I am also retaining water bigtime. I should have lost a good 3-4 lbs last week and I only lost 1! I was so pissed! But again is it the meds or just good ole Aunt Flo wreaking havoc? My belly also is tender..almost like my bladder feels full all the time. I am going to ask about that one tomorrow.it might just be the water retention.
What else?? Kids are good..(full of colds but good), Cliff is good. Desperate Housewives was GREAT! Looking forward to 24 and Medium tomorrow night.

I did it!!
So I gave myself my first injection! There had been some confusion and it appears there will be two different injections in this protocol. One is what I am doing now - a drug called Suprefact which will take on where that ole shot in ass left off (lupron) This is a subcutaneous injection and is very similar to what diabetics use for insulin. So I braved it..scared the crap out of myself (more out of paranoia of doing it wrong than anything) it was not that bad but considering it has to be done everyday..ick..
My second injections will probably start just after the 24th. On that day I have to go for an ultrasound to check my endometrial lining. Once those results are in I will start the progesterone shots in the arse as well as an antibiotic. Wanna know something funny?? Not funny ha ha funny but more like a strange coincidence..I could end up on anti-rejection drugs..LOL.. cause as you know with Cliffy he takes them because his body will always know that the heart is not his. Well apparently my body will know that those little chicks are not mine when they are implanted. It is only until the placenta is well formed that the body would stop naturally rejecting them little eggers. Weird eh? Obviously it is a much more milder form of medication but strange nonetheless.
So I think that is it. I am tired tonight.

Sorry...
haven't been around this week. Cliff is on days this week and next so I don't spend as much time on the computer at night I FEEL like a late night mama but it is only 10:00 pm!!
So let's see..ohh the plumbing/electricity problem..well Cliff was at work talking to the electrician there and telling him how the fuse/breaker (whatever) did not pop but we still have no power etc etc..so the guy says something to the effect of "oh that is odd..I would have thought that your reset button on the outlet in the bathroom would have caught it, maybe your house is wired illegally..blah blah blah" All Cliff had to hear was reset button the electricity finally came back on in his brain! DOH! Sure enough when I got home I hit the reset button and PRESTO! Power is back! I am just soooooooooooo glad we did not spend money to have an electrician come in to tell us that! HOW EMBARASSING!
What else..the children were little beasts this weekend. Cliff was working and they both had colds and no naps..I guess that is why it feels like midnight already?? I know Liam said something so hilarious and witty this weekend..but the brain is mush and I already forget what it was.. :( I should have come on right away topost it or write it down or something. It left me saying "frig that kid is smart.." I am sure it will come back to me...
On the surro front - went for my second hormone check on Thursday and it looks like I will start the rest of my meds tomorrow..I am still perplexed with the injection thing but I am trying not to stress out about it. ALSO We finally get to meet the intended parents this week!! We are going out for dinner on Thursday night! I am sure some people on both sides were starting to think we were nuts for goign as far as we did without meeting but I honestly feel like I have known them for years. They are such open, honest kind people and everything feels right. So I guess it is kind of like a blind date! I am so excited!
What else?? Oh yeah Valentine's Day :) Big deal..LOL..we are not really into it. I think we might BBQ some steaks and that is about it. That is if Cliff shovels a path to the BBQ!
I got my raise at work finally..6.1% not bad! Still a crap salary but considering what everyone else gets in that place I feel slightly honored. We will be getting another raise in June/July as they are trying to match up our year end evaluations/raises with our fiscal year end which is June. They have also started up a bonus plan as well..that should be interesting! I am still looking for a promotion or job change of some sort but it ain't happening yet. Despite the four years of reviews that say I could be doing so much more and they plan to capitalize on that yadda yadda yadda..when pigs fly. I am always looking for something new but I guess it would kind of be a joke to walk into a job interview 6-7 months pregnant..and tell them not to worry the baby is not mine!! LOL..Oh well there is always 2006 if this place doesn't do anything for me in the next year!
So that is all I can think of...

Superbowl..
I am sooo not into Superbowl. Cliff is heading up to his friend Duane's later on to watch. I give him a hard time about going but now I have the whole couch to myself and will watch some good movies. I think I will watch Troy, perhaps The Manchurian Candidate. The possibilities are endless!! We put on Shaun of the Dead for a few minutes yesterday..it looks pretty funny!
Might go up to Rigaud Mountain to watch Shannon snowboard a little. It is a beautiful sunny mild day here in Quebec!
So the chicks lost to the men last night..technically. We pretty well gave them enough hints to get their final pie and we ended it there because apparently I am the only insomniac around. It was good tho..I actually went to bed before midnight and the kids slept the whole night! OK well Liam snuck in our bed at some point but I don't even know when.
We still have no electricity in the downstairs bathroom.. Cliff will have to look at that at some point..what a pain in the ass(not Cliff, the fact we have no power..ok maybe Cliff too)
Liam got an awesome Harry Potter cloak and glasses from Nan & Grandpa along with a Harry Potter watch! He has barely taken the cloak off! He even slept in it for most of the night! He got another Harry Doll (male version of a Barbie???) from Steph and Richard but he would never trade it in for something else! So right now they are Harry and Larry...LOL..Uncle Ross & Auntie Kim and the gang(Sue, Randy, Christine) got him some awesome stuff too! He has been zapping us with his new magic wand all morning, bathtime tonight will be with the Spiderman towel and face cloth! He had a really great time and he knocked out pretty quick! Shan's friend Saylie even brought him a gift!! It was so thoughtful of her! She got him this Harry Potter Whomping Willow game. We had given him his gifts on the day from us (Leappad plus writing system), Emma (Batman figurine), Nanny (we picked up Mulan II), Granny (Spiderman PJ's) and Granny & Grandpa Jim(2 games for his Leappad!) He had a really good birthday and thanks to all for the gifts :)
So that is about it..gotta start getting everything ready to go to the mountain!!
I got some great pics of Liam (and Emma) that I will try and figure out how to get on here.

Yesterday..
was Liam's 4th Birthday! I cannot believe how fast the time has gone! I know I am biased being his Mum and all but I think he is such a special little boy. I just love him to pieces. Today he gets to have "his" cake. He is so excited. Stephanie's sister Michelle made him a cake with Harry Potter on it! Yesterday I brought cupcakes and party hats a la Harry Potter to school so his class could have a little party! Apparently they all had fun.
Nothing new on the surrogacy front..just waiting for the 10th. I know that this month is just going to drag on by now that I am waiting for something to happen.
Oh I forgot to tell you all before..I got a call from Cliff's nurse at the transplant clinic with some excellent news!! He has been doing so well again that he will only have to have blood tests done at a local clinic every 3 months and only go to the hospital every 6 months! Barring any other complications ofcourse. So that was great news to hear! He hasn't been sick too much either. One bout of gastro and that is about it.
Trivia tonight..Men Vs. Women.. Who will be the winners?? Unfortunately with Richard coming I am no too optimistic for us..LOL..He doesn't know a whole lot about sports but he pretty well covers all other categories and the 90's edition has a whole category for 'puter geeks! We are in big SHITE! (sorry Richard but you can't hid from the truth..LOL)

Oh what a night (or lack thereof)
Yo Yo Flo..finally sho’d..LOL..I have never been so happy to see her in my life. I don’t know if Lupron delayed her or what but I was starting to panic. (probably why she decided to stay away)
So let’s see… I was a late nite mama and and early morning mama today. Did not get to bed until 12:00 am I have no idea how long it took me to fall asleep not as long as usual cause the night before was short too. Next thing I know it is 4:30 and Emma is awake..I think it is time to get her out of that crib. I don’t know why but I have sideways sleeping kids. So ofcourse she is tall enough now that when she pulls a 90 (as opposed to a 180 or a 360) she gets herself wedged between the rungs. Normally I can slide her around and she will go back to sleep but it wasn’t happening! So I brought her into bed with me and I think she might have fallen back asleep if it was not for Liam who decided to get up! He wanted to watch Tarzan. You know that cheesy Tarzan series? Well it is on at 6:00 am on NTV (just in case you are a fan) and I keep telling him that he goes to bed so late and sleeps to long in the morning and he misses it everyday. So I guess he thought enough was enough and made sure he was up nice and early! They both had power naps on the way to the garderie so that helped a bit I am sure.
OK let’s review last night’s TV schedule… Law & Order:SVU..repeat; One Tree Hill – I know most of you are not watching this..but you are missing out! I missed a lot of the first season but this is my replacement for Beverley Hills 90210; American Idol – Chick that sang Aretha Franklin was awesome..there were a few that were pretty good but there were lots that were BAD!; NYPD Blue – first of the last 5 FINAL episodes! I think I am going to cry when it leaves. I cried last night when Andy came downstairs in his blues. Oh yeah and Gilmore Girls – I aspire to be as witty and funny as Lorelai Gilmore..that woman is quick. I would love to know what she is like in real life. That is about the only reason why I watch it oh yeah and because Luke his hot (shut up he is soooO!!)
Tonight is gonna suck! George Dubya’s State of the Union Address.. Maybe I will actually go to bed early for once! I would go to sleep right now if I could!!

Shot in the hi-nee..GIT R DONE
SoFriday I had not heard from the clinic by 10:30 so I called them. Sure enough they wanted me to go have the Lupron shot done. I was lucky enough to get an appt. with the CLSC (public health clinic) at 2:30 so I did not have to wait 3 hours at a walk-in. So I went had the shot in what they call the gluteal muscle or as I prefer to call it…my big ass! It was a big needle and did not hurt too much going in but she lingered there a little too long for my liking and hurt more coming out. Guess I better get used to it as I will be having those daily for months..ICK. There was no bruising or anything which I thought there would be.
So next I will be going for another blood test on Feb 10th. Then most likely starting all the meds (Estrace, progesterone injections and baby aspirin(actually starting that today)) on Feb 14th. Tentative transfer date is March 9th right now!! I am hoping it will get modified a few days either way so I can work it around a weekend as it was originally supposed to be the 12th which was perfect as I would only miss one day of work..right now on the 9th would mean 3 days of work missed. But you gotta do whatcha gotta do! So not looking forward to the progesterone injections but what the hell..what hurts ya only makes ya stronger!
I got a phone call from my IF on Friday right as I was leaving for the injection. He told me he was calling to tell me that he thought I was amazing..I was blushing I am sure!! (cause #1 he is cute..hehe and #2 I don’t like compliments like that..) Basically because I sent him an e-mail the day before telling them I went for a blood test at the last minute and everything went good and I like the lab they were really fast etc. and he thought I was really cool and easygoing about it all..not complaining once about how the clinic just expects me to up and leave work without any notice etc etc. Anyhoo he is real sweetheart. They both are! They are so concerned about me getting in trouble with work etc.
On to other news.... Mark flooded my upstairs bathroom sometime yesterday..the shite..His daughter Chanel did it the day before. That was really gross as I did not have the plunger upstairs so I had to stick my bare hand/arm in the cesspool of germs! ICK! This time (like over 24 hours after Mark left) I sent Liam upstairs to "go" and within seconds he was screaming bloody murder because his feet were wet and he couldn't pee!! I don't think he had time to flush himself and make that amount of water get on the floor in the amount of time he was up there but one can never be sure. So I get out the shopvac (after two panicky calls to Cliff who is at work all night) and send Liam downstairs to go back. Once again he is crying because the bathroom lights burnt out..shit sure enough the water was leaking right through the ceiling and must have zapped the fuse!! I am praying everything just dries out so I guess I am peeing and showering in the dark..LOL.. So what is with people that pee and don't flush?? What is up with that?? Do people actually train their kids NOT to flush? Are they afraid the toilet is going to suck em up? Are they just being lazy?? Come on tell me..inquiring minds want to know. My kids are going to be toilet flushing maniacs..
So if anyone has any plumbing expertise I have a few questions..please let me know.
Did anyone watch Medium tonight.. I just love it!! 24 was awesome too..did you see who came on right on the end!! I almost died!! WEEEHHEEEEE!!

This is really latenightmama!!
Sorry it took me so long to post (not that I am sure anyone is reading this anyway..) but I got sidetracked with the wonderful world of parenting! I had a board meeting for the kid's daycare..and I just got home now (12:00 am!) I think the clock on here is screwed up..anyhoo these meetings are about the most boring things on earth! Aside from being conducted all in french..(which I understand but I have to concentrate so much more than everyone else and that is just not fair..LOL) they are boring! I got nominated by one of the teachers at a general meeting to be on the board. What I thought I was getting myself into was PTA type stuff..MAN WAS I WRONG! The Conseil d'Administration as we are so-called basically runs the whole daycare we make all decisions etc. I love being in on the gossip but holy crap tonight they wasted an hour talking about facecloths and new potties! These people are all parents so I don't get it!! Give the teachers their new potties and facecloths and MOVE THE FRICK ON!! (Can you tell I have PMS??)
OK so the clinic finally calls me at 11:30 am today. They still have not been able to wrestle the Dr. to the ground to approve my protocol. So they decide I should run out and get my hormones checked..I almost told the girl "trust me these ones are in GOOD WORKING ORDER!" LOL..but I go. It was honestly the BEST blood test I have ever had. Barely even a mark! The cheap bandaid left more of a mark than the needle.Very quick and pleasant experience and the tech at the front desk was adorable! So the nurse at the clinic tells me to do this blood test in the mean time she will call me when the protocol is ready to go. Also she told me to go the pharmacy and pick up my Lupron shot..did you know they actually give me the needle and everything? I was just expecting the liquid..I did not open it as it supposed to remain sterile until injection time. So she will call me tomorrow and then I will be summoned to go out again, hunt down a Dr. to stick this needle in me.
So I have two days of birth control pills left..and that is it!! I told Cliff he cannot touch me with a ten foot pole..don't even look at me! Hehehe..then he said well the IP's are going to have to get me a hooker! Yeah sure..I told that to IM (Intended Mother) and she laughed and wondered if that would pass as an allowable expense?? Heehee..don't think so!
It was Cliff's birthday today..the big ole 35! I bought him a nice wine decanter and then a kit with a strainer on a stand and a decanter dryer in it. He was quite pleased! Seeing as I was away tonight I picked up some nice rib steaks last night at the butchers and we BBQ'd...in -35 celcius..LOL.. Cliff had to shovel a path to the bbq!
On another note for those of you that are trying to post comments..I think you have to set up your own blog to do that..so you can just e-mail at my home address if you don't want to start a blog. (even it is real fun!!)
Nat - get off your ass and get writing!
I think that is it..time to go to bed..6:00 am is gonna come fast!

OK here is the deal...
OK so my blog..bloggy bloggy blog. I have always wanted one but was never quite sure what the purpose would be.. So I thought about it last night in my sleep and again in traffic this morning. I have decided to use this for the following purposes: 1) To update my family on what is going on in our household. 2) to share with those same people and some friends about the journey I am about to undertake (some of you know, some of you don’t) I will tell y’all about it in my next post. Don’t want to confuse anyone that has never read these types of things before. 3) I will also use this to display some pics of the things that are apparently my children.. I AM KIDDING! I love em to death. They are truly my pride and joy and it will be easier to show em off this way.
So how this works is that you will just have to bookmark my site and come have a peek every few days and see what is going on in our world. Oh yeah and if you could please refrain from giving the site out to people I don’t know it would be appreciated. I would like to keep this between you and me..ok and you and you and you and you too..crikey we have a big family!

Now that everyone has my e-mail invites...
So here is what is going on in our little world!
I don't even know what to write..lol..I have been wanting to tell everyone but sometimes the timing is not right and I wanted to wait until everything was official..
Some of you know already because we have seen each other etc etc..some of you might have heard through the grapevine so here it is out in writing.. I am currently working on becoming a gestational carrier (surrogate) for a couple! I am going to carry their child for them!
Ok close your mouthes now..LOL...so here is how it all began. When Cliff and I started to think about getting pregnant I hopped on the world wide web to do as much research as possible so we could have a better chance of success. While doing this I stumbled upon journals written by women trying to conceive or who were pregnant. There was a small section (one woman at the time) on surrogacy. I started to read this woman's journal and it was something that I really felt I wanted to do - to help a couple become a Mom and a Dad. Now obviously I did not even know if/ how easily I could conceive..well we all know how that worked out being 16 weeks pregnant on my wedding day!! So I decided that I would wait until I was finished having kids of my own first and then start looking into it.
About 3 months after Emma was born I contacted an agency and received all the info. Again I decided to wait until Emma was a little older and more independent. So this September I got in touch with the agency and said let's do it! I was sent some profiles of couples and there was one that I instantly took to and they just happened to live in the same province! She (the agency) sent my profile to them and they were very interested! We finally started contacting each other and hit it off instantly that we practically decided to work together almost right away! (It was practically November by this point!) We talk constantly and seem to have a great rapport with each other! A big issue for me was having a couple that were very easygoing and open to the possibility of continuing a relationship after the baby was born. They seem to be on the same wavelength which is great.
I went for some preliminary bloodwork in November and then in December I went to TO to have my screening done at the clinic there. I met with a pschologist and I think I must have passed with her or I would have heard something by now. So now here we be...in January. Tomorrow I may be having my first "treatment" in order to stop my system with an injection of Lupron but I will not know until tomorrow so check back and I will post tomorrow if I am going or not! It looks like they are aiming for a transfer in March I think!
So more about this stuff..NOOOO the baby is not mine. A gestational carrier/surrogate is simply that. I am carrying a child for a woman that (for what could be many different reasons) cannot carry a pregnancy to term. The baby will not be genetically linked to me at all.
Can I give the baby up?? YES! I know I don't want any more children of my own, yet I think every mother will agree with me..there is nothing more miraculous than having a life growing inside of you. I think no matter how many children I had of my own I would always have the yearning to be pregnant again. I had such easy conceptions, pregnancies and deliveries that it makes sense (at least to me) to use that to be able to help another couple realize their dream of being parents. I am not saying it won't be difficult, I am sure it will be an emotional time but I think it will more out of happiness for my intended parents (IP's for future reference) holding their baby in their arms.
Soooo.. that is my big news!! Whatta ya think??
